This is a new modern digital multi-function tester, with a host of features, with some unique safety functions. It also has some functions not even found in far more expensive test instruments and is exclusive to Test Equipment. This is a rugged unit, housed in a protective boot and designed to excel in harsh environments. This instrument has features ranging from insulation resistance testing, voltage measurements with automatic hold function, diode testing, ohmmeter and continuity testing.
Two unique features are found on this model - MOV and Gas Arrester testing functions, which can test protective devices found in telecommunications and other mains protection devices in various electrical installations. This unit can test these devices to establish if they are operating correctly or not. The voltage at which the gas arrester should strike is displayed on the LCD.
The EnerSave™software inside this meter allows for energy conservation by allowing short duration tests with the Quick Test key. The batteries are tested at start up by the meter's internal microprocessor and on-board software, plus the user has the ability to perform a battery test at any desired time.
The insulation tester can perform testing using an input voltage of 250V, 500V and 1000V, plus dielectric absorption ratio and polarization index are additional features, which are useful in scheduling plant maintenance, as they are used to give an indication of the insulation condition.
This is a very safe instrument, and the LCD will show alerts if the leads are not correctly tested, or if voltage is present in the circuit under test. If the circuit is live, then the tester will switch to the voltmeter function and display the voltage, disabling any tests and locking out the keypad, until any voltage is cleared, making this tester one of the safest to operate.
